Le corone Wolf Tooth sono prodotte al 100% nel Minnesota, USA, ricavate dal pieno in alluminio 7075.
Grazie alla cura nella lavorazione, nella finitura, nella scelta dei materiali e grazie al profilo esclusivo dei denti (con brevetto in corso), sono tra le corone più silenziose, più affidabili e più longeve in commercio.
Il profilo Drop-Stop® FT funziona alla perfezione con qualsiasi catena a 10 velocità, 11 velocità e con le catene 12 velocità SRAM Flattop, SRAM Eagle, KMC e altre. Non sono compatibili con le catene Shimano 12 velocità Hyperglide+, per cui abbiamo delle corone specifiche.

Powertrac è il nome che identifica le corone ellittiche (o ovali) di Wolf Tooth.
Come sempre Wolf Tooth ha avuto un approccio molto pratico, provando diversi tipi di ovalizzazione prima di scegliere il design che sul campo ha dato i risultati migliori.
Oltre al profilo dei denti anticaduta proprietario compatibile 11, 10 e 9 velocità, le corone ovali di Wolf Tooth hanno un’ovalizzazione del 10% a 112° dopo il punto morto superiore, soluzione ideale per godere dei benefici di una corona ellittica senza che gli svantaggi di questo tipo di disegno rispetto a una classica corona circolare, si facciano troppo sentire.
I tester di Wolf Tooth hanno notato i più grossi benefici su sentieri sconnessi con pendenze medie, dove permettono di effettuare meno cambiate e di accelerare più rapidamente. Ecco spiegato con parole estremamente semplici cosa si prova utilizzando queste corone: “where your pedal stroke is weakest it feels like you have a 2 teeth less on the chainring and where you have the most power it “feels” like you have 2 more teeth” [nel punto in cui la pedalata è più debole, è come avere due denti in meno, nel punto in cui è più potente, è come averne due in più]. Ovvero pedalando una 34T ovale di Wolf Tooth ci sembrerà di avere una 30T quando le nostre gambe erogano la minima potenza, ed una 34T nel punto in cui la pedalata è più potente.
Si tratta di una semplificazione estrema poichè l’argomento delle corone ovali è in realtà molto complesso e sarebbe superficiale addentrarci nella tecnica senza andare a valutare i casi specifici (cosa che ovviamente non possiamo fare), ma dopo averle provate siamo certi che per molti potrebbero essere una svolta.
We won’t try to convince you that elliptical (or oval, the same thing) chainrings will change your life…but they might! What we can say for sure is that they have a different feel from round rings and can provide an efficiency benefit and smoother power output for some riders. Our testers report the biggest benefits on punchy singletrack and hills, allowing less shifting and faster acceleration.
Our proprietary design has ovality of 10% and timing of 112° after TDC (top dead center). These values provide the benefits of an oval ring without the drawbacks of greater ovality or more aggressive timing. The simplest way to explain how they “feel” is that where your pedal stroke is weakest it feels like you have a 2 teeth less on the chainring and where you have the most power it “feels” like you have 2 more teeth. Example: a 34t chainring feels like a 32t in the weak part of your pedal stroke and a 36t in the part of the stroke where your legs have the most power.
